Nervous? Me? Well...
This year, the elders here have agreed that it would be good for me to attend a State-side conference. I have it in mind to go to Together for the Gospel - the speakers look good, the theme's important and the accommodation better than British conferences. And it might actually cheer me up, which would make a change.
Only problem is - I've flown before, but never alone. Anybody like to come?

Me, in the alternative universe where I have loads of money and I'm not midair between the Isle of Lewis and Birmingham on the 13th!
'Alternative universe', Jonathan? Is that what you learned at LRBS?
No, Gary. Don't be naughty. I learned it off Dr Who.
Are you still going to T4G?
I thought you should go to Desiring God to hear Rick Warren ;-)
No, not going to T4G - for the reasons set out in this post.
The Piper/Warren thing is problematic for me; in the main, I agree with Phil Johnson's analysis. I do think Piper lacks discernment sometimes. Having said that: while I don't like Warren's pragmatism (if it works, it's OK) I hate even more the British, Reformed 'anti-pragmatism' (if it works, it's ungodly); I read Purpose-Driven Church and learned some useful things from it; and our church did, a couple of years ago, read through 'A Purpose-driven life'. I wouldn't do it again, and it didn't revolutionise things here. On the other hand, it didn't destroy anything, either.
So, I'm going to content myself with going to EMA - Piper without Warren.
